Rules for uploaders
Short version: upload only what you have the right to share. Everything below follows from that one sentence.
What you may upload
- Comics you made yourself.
- Work published under a licence that permits sharing — Creative Commons, or anything whose author has said so plainly. If the licence forbids commercial use, we cannot take it: the site may one day carry an advert, and that would break the terms.
- Work whose copyright has expired. Newspaper strips from before 1930 and old Japanese works are the bulk of our catalog.
- Work you have written permission to post. Keep the permission; we may ask.
What you may not
Scanlations of licensed manga. Rips from other reading sites. Anything you found somewhere and cannot say who owns. This is the rule that ends accounts, and it is not negotiable — not because we are strict, but because the site is answerable for what it hosts.
Popular manga is almost never legal to post. If you are wondering whether a well-known series is allowed, it is not.
Also refused: pornography, anything sexualising minors, and material that has nothing to do with comics.
How your first upload works
Your first chapter waits for a moderator to read it. That is one chapter, once — after it is approved, anything you add to a series already on the site appears immediately. While it waits you cannot start another, so put your best foot forward.
If it is refused you will find the reason on the upload page next time you open it, and you are welcome to try again with something else.
Starting a new series is the one thing that always waits, however long you have been uploading. Adding a chapter to a comic that is already here is a small decision; putting a new title on the site is not, and it is the one we have to get right.
Getting it right
- Pages in reading order, none missing, none duplicated.
- The chapter number the work itself uses, not the position in your folder.
- Credit the translator or the group if it is not you.
- A cover belongs to the series, not the chapter — set it on the series page.
If you get it wrong
A mistake is a rejection with a reason. Posting work you have no right to is an account closed and everything you have published withdrawn. We do not need a complaint from the rights holder first.
