Demon and Song

Shoddy loses his place in a children's choir because he cannot sing in tune. An unlikely teacher offers to help: Mister Demon, who takes the boy under his wing in an abandoned church. Their lessons would be unusual enough even without one troubling detail. The songs Shoddy is learning are intended to destroy demons. An affectionate bond develops between two people who should be enemies, giving this short fantasy both warmth and unease. Gentle everyday moments sit alongside a darker story about faith, cruelty and the possibility of finding care where it is least expected.
