Synopsis

Sent into palace service by an impoverished family, Xiaolan approaches her unfamiliar surroundings with an appetite for food, conversation and friendship. Among the servants she meets is Maomao, whose unusual knowledge makes everyday palace life rather less ordinary. This companion manga revisits the rear palace through Xiaolan, following the work and relationships of those who keep it running.
