Ryo Takatsuki begins a new school year expecting an ordinary life, but a hostile transfer student brings a very different future with him. Hayato Shingu attacks with an abnormal left arm, and another mysterious assailant soon threatens Ryo's childhood friend. Under pressure, Ryo discovers that his own right arm is no longer entirely human. The change connects him to others carrying powerful artificial abilities and to organisations pursuing their own plans for human evolution. Nanotechnology, secret experiments and cybernetic opponents pull the young characters into a conflict whose rules they must learn while trying to survive it. Ryoji Minagawa and Kyoichi Nanatsuki combine science-fiction action with the tension of a conspiracy thriller. The transforming weapons supply the spectacle, but the question of how their bearers can keep control of their lives gives each new discovery a more personal cost.
