Galaxy Express 999

Tetsuro Hoshino dreams of obtaining a mechanical body, an escape from the vulnerability and inequality surrounding ordinary human life. A mysterious woman named Maetel offers him passage aboard the Galaxy Express 999, a train whose tracks stretch between worlds. Their destination promises the transformation he has been seeking. Each stop introduces a society shaped by its own desires, losses and compromises. Through these encounters, Leiji Matsumoto turns an interstellar journey into a meditation on mortality, dignity and the things a person might surrender in pursuit of an apparently perfect future.
